FESTIVAL KERNEL
Call for proposals
Kernel is a wide space for ideas and projects: a place for meeting, exchange and dialogue, not only between the public, well-known and emerging artists -developing their own expressivity participating in the alteration of the contemporary artistic language- but also between them and researchers, writers and curators who wish to submit and raise reflections in the debate of the emerging trends, on the relationship between art and technology.
In order to continuously develop and grow the Kernel platform, the Organization opens a call without deadline, by which it intends not only to select proposals and projects to participate in the Kernel Festival, but also to offer the opportunity to be included in a program of events and occasions that will be distributed throughout the year in different locations, to further increase the opportunities for visibility and promotion for the artists and their projects.
Therefore, the call is open not only to innovative and experimental projects, works and performances, but also to conferences, meetings and workshops. Submitted proposals can refer to different fields of technological and digital expression, including: Electronic Music, Audiovisual Mapping, Interactive & Digital Art, Temporary Architecture.
Among the types of projects that will be considered, are included:
- project of electronic music of any style, expressed in the live sets form
- audiovisual live performances, short film, VJing and public interaction, architectural mapping or any other mapping project – in indoor or outdoor
- projects of interactive, generative, digital, electronics, kinetics, robotics art; software art, net art; video, sound, light installations, performances and actions – indoor or outdoor
- proposals and projects of light, temporary, movable and/or reusable architectural structures; installations, interventions and projects that provide innovative ideas for managing the evolution of the physical space and its use
- proposals of conferences, presentations, meetings, round tables and workshops
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The call is free and open to participants of all nationalities who are over 21.
The participation of groups is allowed, indicating a group leader.
The submission of applications is exclusively done online. It is necessary to create a Kernel Call Account with which you can send different proposals through the appropriate form.
It is allowed to the single candidate (or group) to participate with different projects in multiple categories and, as the call is without deadline, even to forward further proposals at a later time. On the contrary, it won’t be possible to make any changes to the previously sent material.
Upon receiving the entries, a confirmation message will be sent to the e-mail address provided by the applicant.

SELECTION CRITERIA
The proposals will be evaluated by the Organization’s Scientific Committee and by international external professionals, who will consider the relevance, feasibility and economic sustainability on the basis of what indicated by the applicants in the registration form.
The Organization will host the selected artists (up to a maximum of 4 people in the case of groups), offering board and lodging during the Festival week. Any additional support will be individually considered.
With the intention to activate during the year, in addition to the Festival, different occasions and opportunities for visibility and exposure, we recommend applicants to submit the proposals as soon as possible.
Those responsible for the selected proposals will be directly contacted by the Organization.
